Gestus
An innovative solution for body kinematics monitoring
GESTUS is an international project funded by the European Commission dedicated to transforming the way we understand and measure human movement.
At its core, GESTUS is developing a new generation of wearable devices that integrate GNSS and IMU technologies. Unlike many existing devices that only work reliably in laboratory settings, GESTUS aims to create a wearable device capable of tracking step length and stride with centimeter-level accuracy. This represents a significant advancement in both sports and medical fields.
Initially designed for professional athletes, the device will later be applied in the medical field to study neurodegenerative diseases and rehabilitation processes. Thanks to its high precision in motion tracking, GESTUS will allow athletic trainers, physiotherapists, and doctors to adapt training and rehabilitation programs in real-time, with positive outcomes for athletes and patients alike.
By providing accurate, real-world data, the project supports the WHO’s focus on assessing capabilities and offers valuable insights for therapy and performance optimization. Ultimately, GESTUS seeks to improve management efficiency, reduce healthcare costs related to chronic and degenerative diseases, and revolutionize the way human body movement is measured and analyzed.
