{"id":8817,"date":"2024-06-18T11:17:52","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T09:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/comftech.com\/?p=8817"},"modified":"2024-06-18T11:18:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T09:18:46","slug":"thrombus-horizon-eu-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comftech.com\/en\/thrombus-horizon-eu-project\/","title":{"rendered":"ThrombUS+ Horizon EU Project Officially Launched with 9.5M\u20ac Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>New EU-funded Project Tackling Deep Vein Thrombosis Detection<\/em>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ALEXANDROUPOLI, GREECE &#8211; 2024<br>In a groundbreaking initiative, the ThrombUS+ Horizon EU project was officially launched early this year, supported by a substantial 9.5M\u20ac fund from Horizon Europe Innovation Action. <br>Eighteen partners from Europe and the United States met to kickstart the ThrombUS+ project, tasked with the <strong>development of an innovative wearable diagnostic device for point-of-care, operator-free, continuous monitoring of deep vein thrombosis<\/strong> (DVT). <br>The project is being led by Prof. Eleni Kaldoudi of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.athenarc.gr\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Athena Research Center<\/a> and has partners from Greece, Lithuania, France, Germany, the USA, Italy, Finland, and Spain.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"933\" height=\"933\" src=\"https:\/\/comftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Eleni-Kaldoudi.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8812\" srcset=\"https:\/\/comftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Eleni-Kaldoudi.png 933w, https:\/\/comftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Eleni-Kaldoudi-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/comftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Eleni-Kaldoudi-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/comftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Eleni-Kaldoudi-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/comftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Eleni-Kaldoudi-640x640.png 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 639px) 98vw, (max-width: 1199px) 64vw, 770px\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center\" style=\"flex-basis:75%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>The challenges in creating a wearable solution for DVT diagnosis and prevention are numerous<\/em>. <em>ThrombUS+ tackles these challenges head-on, not only from a technological standpoint but also by navigating the complex regulatory landscape for AI-based medical devices.<\/em><\/p><cite>Prof. Kaldoudi.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The interdisciplinary and international setup of the consortium, in addition to the intensive collaboration entailed in the project, will play a critical role in its success.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another strength of the consortium lies in its application of a <strong>\u201cCompliance-by-Design\u201d approach<\/strong>, which integrates legal, regulatory, safety and security requirements for complex medical devices as early as possible in the development process, thus shortening the innovation\u2019s path to patients.
