ComfTech Howdy

ComfTech Howdy

A medical device, class IIb, conceived to support the newborn during the first two hours of life, in a hospital environment.

We designed this device having in mind the importance of “skin-to-skin” care, the contact between mother and newborn immediately after the delivery, but also being aware of the need to provide the doctors with the infant’s physiological parameters at this time of important physical adaptation. Thanks to the Howdy Monitoring System, the data can be gathered in a totally non-invasive way and sent wireless, while the newborn can continues to have a “skin-to-skin” contact with his/her mother.

The Comftech Howdy system consists of a soft sensored textile band. These fully textile sensors substitute the standard electrodes glued to the skin. No gel is required for their activation: once the band is worn by the newborn and the electronic device is gently connected to it, the medical staff can view the physiological parameters on the App and receive alarm notifications in case of unforeseen variations. The system adds objective data to the normal infant observation by nurses and doctors, thus giving them some spare time to dedicate to the new parents .
